Disintegrates particles

The deformation recovery theory implies that the shapes of the disintegrant particles are distorted during compression, and that the particles return to their preeompression shape upon wetting, thereby causing the tablet to break apart. Hess [20], with the aid of photomicrographs, showed that deformed stareh particles returned to their original shape when exposed to moisture. [Pg.277]

Fig. 4.33. Measured CO oxidation rate on EBL-fabricated model catalysts with different support materials and particle sizes (a) The inlet gas mixture represented by the parameter (3 = Pco/ Pco + P02) has been scanned up/down at a constant temperature of 450 K, and the rate of CO2 production has been monitored during the gas scan in j3. This has been made for three different samples (a) 750-nm Pt/Si02 (blue), (b) 750-nm Pt/CeOj, (black), and (c) Pt/CeOj, sample (200mn, red, disintegrated particles). Results both from experiments (filled circles) and simulations solid lines) are shown. The arrows indicate which reaction rate branch that has been observed while scanning up/down in (3. A bistable region (hysteresis) is observed for all samples, (b) The bistability diagrams determined from a series of measurements as those shown in (a) at different temperatures (Pt/Si02, blue and open squares) Pt/CeOj, black hatch marks and crosses and the 200-nm Pt/CeOj, red hatched area and open squares). The observed differences can be traced back to a pronounced O-spillover effect on ceria. Note the logarithmic scale for the /3-value (from [29])... Fig. 4.33. The C (rfa)B reaction, rather exceptionally, has a negative -value. Ashmore and Raffle using a beam of 7 MeV deuterons from a cyclotron, coupled with magnetic analysis of the disintegration particles, found excitation of the ground state and 0.72 MeV state of B . The T = state at 1.74 MeV was not observed, but neither was the nearby T = 0 state at 2.15 MeV. The reaction C ( a) B apparently does not share the resonance peak at 0.65 MeV shown by the 0 dp) reaction (Curling and Newton ). [Pg.124]

If the air temperature exceeds the boiling point of the droplet solution, then a vapor will be formed. As the solid crust forms around each droplet, vapor pressure within the droplet is formed and the resultant effect of this pressure is dependent on the nature of the crust. A porous crust will release the vapor, but a nonporous crust may rupture resulting in fractured particles or fines from disintegrated particles. [Pg.144]

The methods for the evaluation of intrinsic swelling, i.e. individual particle volume increase, are mostly based on the microscopic observation of particles. This presents the obvious advantage of allowing the direct measurement of the increase in disintegrant particle dimensions due to water absorption lO-H. [Pg.384]
