The book Small Is Beautiful by E. F. Schumacher (Perennial Library, 1975) is valuable reading, providing a clear perspective of how a developing country perceives the United States. The only image many workers have of the United States comes from television shows such as Dallas, Knots Landing, and Clint Eastwood s Dirty Harry movies. A better understanding of their view of the United States can only help in the development of good relationships. 

The inventor of the Dirty Jane, Glenn Harris, Jane s executive chef and an owner, is a Brighton Beach boy. 

Mr. Harris said he thought it was only a question of positioning to get the Dirty Jane to the right customer. 

There s a dirty-martini drinker out there, he added, characterizing that drinker as smoky. Mr. Harris himself was husky on the telephone.
