Direct Observation of Pseudoemulsion Films

As we will discuss at length in Chapters 3 and 4, the stability of the asymmetric air-water-oil films that separate oil antifoam drops from the relevant gas phase is a [Pg.46]

This apparatus permits measurement of pseudoemulsion lifetimes and film thickness profiles as indicated by interference fringes. The effect of hydrophobic particles in the oil phase on film lifetimes can be easily observed. It also permits phenomena such as stratification due to the presence of close-packed hydrophilic particles [43] or micelles to be observed. [Pg.47]
