In a study of the interhalogen compounds de Jong et al 20 find that relativistic contributions increase the electric dipoles moment while the quadru-pole moment and the dipole polarizability vary irregularly. The relativistic contribution to the dipole and quadrupole moments of molecules containing I2 is between 10% and 20% of the whole and the contributions are not negligible in the other cases. [Pg.17]
