Diol-derivatized silica gel

Malawer et al. [7] reported in 1984 the SEC of PVP K-15, K-30, K-60, and K-90 using diol-derivatized silica gel column sets and aqueous mobile phase modified with various polar organic solvents. Senak et al. reported in 1987 [8] the determination of the absolute molecular weight and molecular-weight distribution of PVP by SEC-LALLS and SEC with universal calibration. T e column set used consists of TSK-PW 6000, 5000, 3000, and 2000 columns and a mobile phase of water-methanol (50 50, v/v) with O.IM LiNOj. One hundred percent recovery was reported. The results showed good agreement in from SEC-LALLS and... [Pg.1711]

Many of the chiral molecules containing amide groups were bonded to a solid support for the preparation of CSPs [16-19]. The racemic compounds resolved on these CSPs include a-hydroxycarbonyls, /i-hydroxycarbonyls, amino acids, amino alcohols, amine, and derivatized and underivatized diols. The preliminary chiral diamide phase [(/V-foriuyl-L-valyl)aminopropyl)silica gel] has sufficient separability for racemic /Y-acylatcd a-amino acid esters but not in other types of enantiomer [16]. Most of the eluents used with these CSPs are of normal phase mode, including w-hcxanc, 2-propanol, chlorinated organic solvents, and acetonitrile. [Pg.320]

Table 6 summarizes the most well-known silicas used in gel filtration chromatography. Note that all the silicas are derivatized. The diol functionality, or some variation thereof, is the most widely used. Because most proteins have molecular weights well below 1 million dalton, they can be separated on silica-... [Pg.68]
