Diode laser source

Diode lasers Sources of CW or pulsed coherent radiation in the visible and infrared regions. These lasers are semiconductor devices of small dimensions. Also called semiconductor lasers. [Pg.308]

Although it has not been compared directly with verteporfin, rostaporfin appears to have the same potential for management of choroidal neovascularization. Fifteen minutes after intravenous infusion, a red nonthermal diode laser source (664 nm) is used to activate the drug. The phase III trial compared rostaporfin with placebo in over 900 patients with vision between 20/500 and 20/40 and determined that patients treated with rostaporfin 0.5 mg/kg had stable vision compared with placebo recipients (65.6% vs. 39.3%). Patients with vision better than 20/200 and study-compliant lesion size likewise had significantly higher rates of stable vision compared with placebo (63.2% vs. 25%). A smaller subset of patients with predominantly occult CNV detrived a treatment benefit relative to placebo for patients losing less than 15 letters of acuity (63.6% vs. 29.4%). [Pg.305]

The Raman spectra on solid metal substrates were measured using a Renishaw RM2000 micro-Raman apparatus, coupled with a diode laser source emitting at 785 nm. Sample irradiation was accomplished using the 50x microscope objective of a Leica microscope DMLM. The beam power was 3 mW, the laser spot diameter was adjusted between 1 and 3 pm. Raman scattering was filtered by a double holographic notch filter system and collected by an air-cooled CCD detector. The acquisition time for each measurement was 10 s. All spectra were calibrated with respect to a silicon wafer at 520 cm. ... [Pg.559]

Through the availability of tunable diode laser sources the set-up used for atomic absorption (see Section 4.2.2) can be simplified considerably. In this way, several additional advantages can be realized. As through wavelength tuning, measurements in the wings of the absorption profile can also be made, and possible improvements to the linear dynamic range in a number of cases could be expected. [Pg.176]

Diode laser sources Already in 1980, lasers had been suggested as excitation sources for atomic absorption spectrometry [11]. Tunable dye lasers can provide virtually any atomic hne between 213 and 900 run with a bandwith corresponding to the natural hne width of an atomic hne and with a comparatively high intensity. However, they have not found widespread acceptance for this apphcation so far due to their cost and complex operation compared to hollow cathode or electrodeless discharge lamps. This situation seems to have changed with the advent of inexpensive, mass produced diode lasers (DL) [12, 13]. [Pg.440]
