In dinitroanilines (3), R2 is usually hydrogen, while R3 and R4 are alkyl or substituted alkyl groups containing at least four carbons in total. Where R, is trifluoromethyl or alkyl, the compounds are lipophilic and have a high vapor pressure (e.g., trifluralin R, = CF3, R2 = H, R3 = R4 = CH2CH2CH3 log Xow 5.3). Where Ri is a mesyl (nitralin) or sulfonamide (oryzalin), the compounds are less lipophilic (log Kow4.0-4.7) and the vapor pressure is much less. [Pg.270]
