Kawakami et al. have prepared optically active bifunctional l,3-dimethyl-l,3-diphenyldisiloxanes.158,159 Strohmann et al. have prepared enantiomerically enriched Si-centered silyllithium compounds, which react stereo-specifically with triorganochlorosilanes.160-162 In solution, slow racemization of the silyllithium compounds takes place, which, however, can be circumvented by transmetallation with MgBr2. Oestreich et al. prepared new Si-centered cyclic silanes adopting the strategies developed by Corriu and Sommer.163 Bienz et al. have developed enantioselective routes for the preparation of C-centered chiral allenylsilanes.156,164-166...

Octaphenylcyclotetrasilane reacts readily with lithium metal in tetra-hydrofuran to give a mixture of silyllithium compounds. No starting material is usually recovered however, treatment of such solutions with trimethyl phosphate provided only 27% of 1,4-dimethyloctaphenyl-tetrasilane (34), indicating a fairly low yield of 1,4-dilithiooctaphenyl-tetrasilane. The 1,4-dimethyl derivative (34) was also obtained from the reaction of methyldiphenylsilyllithium with 1,2-dichlorotetraphenyldi-silane this reaction provided a structure proof for the dimethyl compound. 

Dimethyl(phenyl)silyllithium can be added as a nucleophile to the tricarbonyl(ri -cyclohexa-l,3-diene)iron complex. Quenching the reactive intermediate with trifluoro acetic acid provides l-dimethyl(phenyl)silylcyclohex-l-ene, whereas treatment with 2-(phenylsulfonyl)-3-phenyloxaziridine affords predominantly the corresponding [r) -2-dimethyl(phenyl)silylcyclohexa-l,3-diene]iron complex as the major product...
