Morphine and related drugs possessing potent narcotic analgesic properties, are used in clinical practice. A few examples belonging to this class of compounds are morphine sulphate diamorphine hydrochloride codeine dihydrocodeine phosphate hydromorphone hydrochloride hydrocodone tartrate oxymorphone hydrochloride.

Dihydrocodeine and five metabolites were extracted fixim blood samples and separated on a Cig column (2 = 220 nm, ex 340 nm, em). A 96/4 water (25 mM tetraethylammonium phosphate)/acetonitrile mobile phase generated baseline resolution in 35 min [1607]. Concentration ranges were generated from 20 to 2000ng/mL with detection limits of 15-25 ng/mL (analyte dependent).
