Diethers from dianhydrohexitols

Diethers from dianhydrohexitols A series of new ethers has been obtained by alkylation of dianhydrohexitols (isosorbide, isoidide, isomannide) under the action of MW irradiation and PTC conditions. Yields exceeded 90%, a dramatic improvement compared with those from conventional heating with similar temperature profiles. The best yields, for example from isosorbide, were obtained in the presence of a small amount of xylene and TBAB as catalyst at 140 °C (Eq. (11), Table 6.7) [23]. [Pg.286]

Isosorbide, an l,4 3,6-dianhydrohexitol, is readily obtained from the double dehydration of sorbitol. Amongst other chemical derivatives, diesters and diethers of sorbitol have already found application as solvents or plasticizers. Functionalization of the two alcohols groups attached to the rather rigid V-shaped framework of the two... [Pg.77]
