Note From this point on, the workup must not be interrupted, as prolonged exposure to air greatly reduces product quality by the formation of oxidation byproducts. 

The daco 2HBr is a pale yellow solid that is soluble in water, and sparingly soluble in absolute EtOH. The H NMR spectrum in D20 shows a quintet at 2.2 5, 4H and a triplet at 3.45, 8H (H20 4.85) mp = 241-243°C.
