Diarylmercurials reactions with aryl iodides

Diarylmercurials, Ar2Hg, undergo the palladium-catalysed cross-coupling reactions with aryl halides, preferably iodides, to give biaryls in high yields. Scheme 36. 

The diarylmercurials prepared by any of these reactions are the most efficiently coupled with aryl iodides in the presence of a catalytic amount (1 mol%) of aryl(diphenylphosphino)palladium(II) iodides to give the corresponding biaiyls in good to excellent yields under very mild reaction conditions. This method was developed by Beletskaya s group [138], Table 12.
