Dialkylthallium halides

Monoalkylthallium compounds are usually prepared either by the reaction of dialkylthallium carboxylates and mercury(II) carboxylates (equation 22), or by reacting dialkylthallium halides with Br2 or I2 (equation 23). Aryl- and vinylthallium dichlorides are prepared conveniently by the reaction of aryl- and vinylboronic acid, respectively, with excess TICI3 in aqueous solution (equation 24). > ... 

Similar reactions of Tl(III) halides with alkylboronic acids give only a small amount of dialkylthallium halide. The main product -is TlCl. 

Syntheses of dialkylthallium halides with bulky alkyl groups such as trimethyl-silylmethyl and neopentyl have been described, these compounds are dimeric. (Acyloxy)arylthallium compoimds have been prepared from organotin compounds, reactions (40), (41). ... 

The dialkylthallium chlorides can also be used as catalysts for condensation of alkyl halides with alkyllithiums as the stoichiometric reagent.3... 

Dialkylthallium(III) perchlorates were prepared by heating a mixture of dialkylthallium(III) halides with silver oxide in CH OH and an addition of equimolar amount of aqueous HCIO4 after filtration of silver halides. The white precipitates obtained after evaporation of solvent under reduced pressure were recrystallized from 013011/(02115)20. The compounds were identified by NMR spectra (see Table II).
