Determination of loose bulk density and voids

Loose bulk density is the mass of dry aggregates that fills a container of a particular volume without any compaction divided by the volume of the container. [Pg.81]

The test is conducted according to CEN EN 1097-3 (1998) and applies to natural, crushed and artificial aggregates. [Pg.81]

The container of a particular capacity (see Table 2.14) is filled with dry aggregate. The amount of sample should be between 120% and 150% more than the amount required in order for the vessel to be filled without any compaction or vibration to occur. [Pg.81]

The loose bulk density (pi,) is calculated by the following formula  [Pg.81]
