Desulfuromonas acetexigens

A nonfermentative organism putatively assigned to Desulfuromonas acetexigens reduced tetrachloroethene to c -dichloroethene using acetate as electron donor (Krumholz et al. 1996), and a similar species D. chloroethenica used both tetra- and trichloroethene as electron acceptors with the production of cw-dichloroethene using acetate or pyruvate as electron donors (Krumholz 1997).
