2 Desorption of Gold from Active Carbon Surface 

Several methods have been developed that can strip gold from the carbon surface almost completely. These methods are based on desorption of gold at high temperatures using dilute solutions of certain electrolytes or their mixtures, or they depend on the selective adsorption of certain organic solvents from the carbon-active sites at lower temperature. The more important of these processes are summarized in Table 5.1.
