Derivitisation-Pyrolysis-Mass Spectrometry

In a fnrther refinement of the pyrolysis procedure the sample is reacted with a suitable reagent then pyrolysed and the prodncts analysed by GC and, possibly, MS. 

In one such procedure described by Ohtani and co-workers [36], polycarbonates and phenolics were first hydrolysed, and the products identified by GC were, in the case of polycarbonates, dimethyl derivatives of bisphenol-A.
