5-Deoxy analogue of quercetin

In a study on the effects on rat brain PKC, fisetin, the 5-deoxy analogue of quercetin, was found to be the most active among 15 flavonoids tested at 50 jM. Some chemical features such as the presence of ortho-dihydroxyl groups and a 2-3 double bond, and the absence of methoxyl groups and sugars were recognised to be essential for the activity. The inhibitory effect of fisetin was dose-dependent (IC50 = 10 pM) and competitive with respect to ATP (Ki = 4.6 pM) [44]. [Pg.842]
