Explosion delay

The mechanism which leads to delayed explosion in the system with nitric acid, even when cooled in hquid nitrogen, was investigated.

Delay, Explosive Train. An expl train incorporating some delay. The train consists of combustible and expl elements arranged in the order of decreasing sensitivity inside a fuze, projectile, bomb, gun chamber or the like. The function of the expl train is to accomplish the controlled augmentation of a small impulse into one of suitable energy to cause the main chge of ammo to function. 

We have five kinds of sounds shooting and explosive sound, thunder report, whistle. and humming. When we arrange these sounds at proper time intervals, e.g. of 2 or seconds in the case of 6 inch shells, we can make the sounds into a rhythm to create firework music. In this case, the first three sounds play the role of percussion instruments. But to bring the five sounds into music, the time of ignition, delay, explosion and the period of the whistles and hummers must be accurately controlled.(See ). 

It is endothermic (A/f (g) -1-76.2 kJ/mol, 0.64 kJ/g), very unstable, and tire vapour explodes at about 2 mbar and well below 0°C [1]. It has been identified as the intermediate mvolved in the delayed explosion of chlorine dioxide [2].
