TPPTS), and the isomeric-to-normal aldehyde ratio exceeded 11 1. Introduction of sulfo groups into the dendrimer increased the catalyst activity, whereas introduction of decyl groups decreased this activity because of blocking of the phosphine groups. The loss of rhodium, especially at high temperatures, was high [118]. [Pg.476]

We also described, in a previous report, the preparation and properties of a series of main chain, liquid crystal polyesters containing n-alkyl substituents on the central aromatic ring of the mesogenic group which varied in length from the methyl to the decyl group. The polymers in this series, with the following structure, II, were liquid crystalline for the methyl to hexyl substituents, n = 1-6, but not for the octyl and decyl substituents, n = 8 or 10 ... [Pg.258]

In the previous sections, all described complexes were formed between the aromatic compounds and surfactant molecules which have alkyl groups with even-number carbon atoms, such as hexadecyl, tetradecyl, dodecyl and decyl groups. These even-carbon-chain surfactants are utilized widely in vitro and are commercially available. However, there are several odd-carbon-chain fatty acids in vivo, although most fatty acids have even-carbon chains. The former acids are digested in the rumen of ruminants. The odd-carbon-chain surfactants were synthesized from the corresponding odd-carbon-chain fatty acids [56-58]. Two kinds of surfactant molecules with alkyl groups of odd-number carbon atoms, pentadecyl- and tridecyltrimethylammonium bromides (PTAB and TTAB, respectively), were prepared and their complexes with biphenyl were formed. The crystals were obtained from aqueous solutions. [Pg.112]

Here are two typical examples. The synthesis of C and Cj2(Dim)j-2Br ILs (i.e., ILs possess butyl and dodecyl linkage chains separating the dications with decyl groups on the three positions of the imidazolium cation) was a... [Pg.129]

Indeed, asymmetric acetylahon of ( )-38 with vinyl acetate and lipase PS-C gave (R)-acetate 39 and the recovered (S)-alcohol 38 of sahsfactory enantiomeric purihes after a single enzymatic reaction. It must be noted that the trimethylsilylethynyl group of 38 was recognized by lipase PS-C as a group bulkier than the n-decyl group. [Pg.595]
