The insufficient disordering is illustrated by the fact that the decane solubilization is limited and by the solubility gap along the sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/W-C50H axis. The latter is caused by the lamellar liquid crystal between the aqueous and pentanol solution (Figure 1.8). 

We have studied the extent of aqueous electrolyte solubilization in AOT/decane solutions when the electrol5de concentration was increased from 0 to 0.3 M. The solubility goes through a sharp maximum, which appeared to be very well correlated with a dramatic decrease of the conductivity measured near the phase limit (Figure 5.4). The origin of a maximum in water solubilization has been well investigated.
