An atypical flavonol is morin (9-97) occurring in the leaves of white mulberry Morns alba, Moraceae). It is derived from kaempherol, but contains an additional hydroxyl group at position C-2, as well as another flavonol datiscetin present in the leaves and roots of bastard hemp Datisca cannabina, Datiscaceae), the... [Pg.707]

Until comparatively recently, Datiscaceae were thought by some taxonomists (e.g., Cronquist, 1981), to consist of four species in three genera, the monospecific Octomeles (0. sumatrana Miq.) and Tetrameles (T. niidiflora R. Br. ex Benn.) and Datisca. Octomeles and Tetrameles are large trees native to southeastern Asia Datisca consists of D. cannabina L., which occurs from southwestern Asia to Crete, and D. glomerata (Presl) Bail ., which occurs in California and northern Baja California, Mexico. [Pg.173]
