Figure 14.19 Records of c5 N, a denitrification proxy, from cores RC27-14 and RC27-23 (two middle panels), and of sedimentary nitrogen and total chlorin contents, proxies of productivity (upper panel), from RC27-23, compared with the G1SP2 c5 0 record (lower panel) for the past 65,000 years. Radiocarbon dates converted to calender years for the two cores are marked on the c5 N records. Numbers (1-18) on the bottom panel refer to Dansgaard—Oeschger events (from Altabet et ah,2002). Third, the most important characteristic of the Greenland records deals with the existence of rapid climatic changes during the last glacial period and the last transition. These Dansgaard-Oeschger events were discovered in the Camp... [Pg.2141]

Dansgaard-Oeschger events in the northeastern Arabian Sea. Geo-Mar. Lett. 21, 168-175. [Pg.3278]

Dansgaard-Oeschger events are rapid climate fluctuations that occurred 25 times during the past glacial period. The processes behind the timing and amplitude of these events (as recorded in ice cores) are still unclear. [Pg.265]

The5 0-H20of the GISP2 ice core from Greenland as a function of age before the present (BP). Numbered intervals correspond to interstadial excursions called Dansgaard-Oeschger (D/O) events. The data show that most D/O events were associated with greater CH4 concentration. Redrawn from Kennett et al. (2003). [Pg.250]
