D-Glucose methacrylate

D-Glucose methacrylate (XXVI) is the last monomer. Its polymers have many potential applications in medicine, secondary oil recovery, etc (27,28). 

The industrial production and applications of D-glucose methacrylate are limited by its difficult multi-step preparation with blocking and unblocking procedures of the secondary hydroxyl groups of glucose according to the procedures described in the literature (28).
