Cydohexanol synthesis

Kvaerner Process Technology Cyclohexanone/cydohexanol Phenol/hydrogen Synthesis of KA oil with high selectivity to cyclohexanone 2 1998... [Pg.144]

Two variants are currently employed for the synthesis of Ol/One (i) the hydrogenation of phenol to cydohexanol and cyclohexanone and (ii) the hydration of cyclohexene to cydohexanol cydohexene is synthesized by the selective hydrogenation of benzene. Cydohexanol is then oxidized to AA using the same process as that employed for the nitric acid oxidation of the KA Oil. [Pg.372]

In 1946, Moses W. Goldberg (1905-1964) and Leo H. Sternbach from Hoffmann-La Roche filed the first of several patent applications relating to the synthesis of biotin (Fig. 7.48). The starting material was fumaric acid, which was tra/is-dibrominated. NucleophEic substitution with benzylamine, cyclisation with phosgene and treatment with acetic anhydride gave the cis-substituted meso-imidazolidinone, which was converted with cydohexanol into the halfester. The enantiomers were then separated with (-)-ephedrine. Alternatively,... [Pg.663]

A new strategy for E-caprolactone synthesis is outlined in Scheme 6.9. The aerobic oxidation of cydohexanol (3) catalyzed by N H PI gives a mixture of cyclohexanone (2)... [Pg.209]
