Cyclopentanones boron trifluoride complex

When an aldehyde or ketone reacts with a Lewis acid such as boron trifluoride (BFg), an ate complex is formed. The reaction of cyclopentanone (53) and BFg leads to 54, which may react with another species, as will be seen in Chapter 16 (Section 16.3).
