Polymerization vs. cyclization

Cyclization vs. Polymerization. One of the simple variations on 1 is the substitution of the orr/u7-xylylene bridging group with the mem-xylylene group. Upon doing this, it was surprising to find that no polymer formed — only the cyclomer 4 shown below in Figure 4. This work will be reported elsewhere (24) and is summarized here.
