Cyclic voltammetry charge density

What experimental evidence is available to clarify the resulting mode of spin-density and charge-density distribution If one characterizes the reduction of (i) a single annulene, (ii) a doubly layered and (iii) a triply layered analogue by cyclic voltammetry, one derives a first criterion (Alexander et al., 1989 Bohnen et al., 1992 Fry et a/., 1985). The potential... [Pg.14]

The EQCM has been most commonly used simultaneously to quasisteady state techniques like slow scan cyclic voltammetry. In this way mass changes during electrolysis can be obtained from A/(Am/.4) vs. potential curves, while A/(AmA4) vs. charge density curves allow evaluation of the number of Faraday exchanged per mole of electro-active species by use of Faraday s law of electrolysis. [Pg.463]

Ferrocene cryptands have also been studied as cation receptors. Hall ef al. have investigated the coordination of alkaline earth and lanthanide metal cations by cryptand 16 using cyclic voltammetry in CH3GN solution. The cation-induced anodic shift of the Fc/Fc redox couple was found to broadly correlate with the charge density of the cationic guest. Further electrochemical analysis revealed evidence that upon oxidation the 16 Be and 16 Dy complexes readily eject the bound cation from the cryptand cavity, presumably due to electrostatic repulsion. [Pg.468]

The high sensitivity of the ER method benefits bioelectrochemists in the detection of the redox reaction of the electron transfer proteins. Even for an adsorption monolayer of proteins, the superficial density of the electroactive center is much smaller than that of small molecules, especially when the molecular weight of the protein is several kilo-Daltons. The redox reaction of adsorbed protein buried in the double-layer charging current in the voltammogram can be detected by the ER method. Ikeda and coworkers succeeded in the clear observation of the ER spectrum and ER voltammogram of a heme c in an adsorbed protein (alcohol dehydrogenase) of ca. 140 kD containing hemes and PQQ, while direct redox reaction could not be detected by cyclic voltammetry [90]. [Pg.87]
