Cyclam decane

This class of compounds, which includes 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetra decane (otherwise known as cyclam), consists of a cyclic macrostructure containing four central nitrogen atoms. These nitrogens form a complex with a transition metal, holding it in the center of a square-planar configuration. Often, the cavity size formed by the macrocycle will stabilize one oxidation state of the transition metal over others due to the size of the metal center... 

Except as noted below, reactions were carried out in CH3CN (5 mL) containing Fell(cyclam)(OTf)2 (0.02 mmol), cyclohexene (1 mmol), and decane (internal standard, 0.01 mmol). Oxidants (0.4 mmol) were added to the solution and the solution was stirred at room temperature for 30 min prior to analysis of the products byGC/MS.
