Crystal structure analysis lattice constant determination

The reflection spectra of grooved silicon and grooved silicon infiltrated with nematic liquid crystal (LC) have been calculated. The grooved silicon structures with different lattice constants (A=16,1 2, 8 and 4 pm) have been designed and fabricated. The analysis of the polarised infrared spectra of Si structures infiltrated with LC allows one to determine the refractive index (Nlc) and the orientation of the liquid crystal. 

The crystal structure, lattice parameters and grain size of the formed powders were determined by XRD using Cu Ka radiation. As it follows from the XRD patterns the synthesized product is composed of hexagonal ZnO with lattice constants a= 0.325 nm and c= 0.521 nm, which are in agreement with the JCPDS card for ZnO. Almost at the same time, Muller and von Stackelberg [24] reported the structure of Kr, H2S, CI2 and SO2 gas hydrates, as determined from a X-ray diffraction study on single crystals. In all cases, a cubic unit-cell with a lattice constant close to 1.2 nm and an Oh Pm3n) space group was obtained. The results of the structural analysis were consistent with the above assumptions of Claussen.
