Croton zehntneri

Several papers have reported the hypotensive action of inhaled essential oils due to relief of stress and/ or anxiety. There are many reports of essential oils and individual components producing a hypotensive effect through intravenous (IV) injection in animals, for example, Menthaxvillosa (Lahlou et al., 2001), Aniba canelilla (Lahlou et al., 2005), Croton zehntneri (de Siqueira et al., 2006), and Cymbopogon win-terianus (de Menezes et al., 2010). A review of hypotensive components administered by IV found that terpene alcohols were more effective than terpene hydrocarbons (Menezes et al., 2010). There is little evidence, other than anecdotal, that essential oils may possess an antihypotensive effect. [Pg.383]
