Correlation of Binary Data

Local composition models provide good correlation of binary vapor-liquid equilibrium data similar to, or somewhat better than, that of Ae Wohl-type models. 

Typical results are presented in Table 13.3 for the average absolute deviations in P AP) and y (Ay) - obtained by fitting all the experimental data with the two types of models - for the system n-butanol - toluene (Gmehling et al, 1982).

We have already seen in Section 13.13.2 that, even though the parameters in the local composition models are functions of temperature (Figure 13.10), good correlation of binary data is obtained by considering them to be temperature-independent (Table 13.4). 

The local composition models Wilson, NRTL/LEMF, and UNI-QUAC provide successful correlation of binary data.
