Correlation function localization

One approach, using a local density approximation for each part, has E - = Es -1- Evwn, where Eg is a Slater functional and Evwn is a correlation functional from Vosko, Wilk, and Nusair (1980). Both functionals in this treatment assume a homogeneous election density. The result is unsatisfactory, leading to enors of more than 50 kcal mol for simple hydrocarbons. [Pg.328]

Finally, we relate the gradient of the local density ViPq(fi) to the pair correlation functions. For this purpose we take the gradient of the expansion (5)... [Pg.173]

The simulations are repeated several times, starting from different matrix configurations. We have found that about 10 rephcas of the matrix usually assure good statistics for the determination of the local fluid density. However, the evaluation of the nonuniform pair distribution functions requires much longer runs at least 100 matrix replicas are needed to calculate the pair correlation functions for particles parallel to the pore walls. However, even as many as 500 replicas do not ensure the convergence of the simulation results for perpendicular configurations. [Pg.333]

Local exchange and correlation functionals involve only the values of the electron spin densities. Slater and Xa are well-known local exchange functionals, and the local spin density treatment of Vosko, Wilk and Nusair (VWN) is a widely-used local correlation functional. [Pg.119]

All three terms are again functionals of the electron density, and functionals defining the two components on the right side of Equation 57 are termed exchange functionals and correlation functionals, respectively. Both components can be of two distinct types local functionals depend on only the electron density p, while gradient-corrected functionals depend on both p and its gradient, Vp. ... [Pg.273]

Similarly, there are local and gradient-corrected correlation functionals. For example, here is Perdew and Wang s formulation of the local part of their 1991 correlation functional ... [Pg.274]

In an analogous way to the exchange functional we examined earlier, a local correlation functional may also be improved by adding a gradient correction. [Pg.274]

Which is very closely related to Vosko, Wilk and Nusair s local correlation functional (VWN). [Pg.274]

Local Average Density Model (LADM) of Transt)ort. In the spirit of the Flscher-Methfessel local average density model. Equation 4, for the pair correlation function of Inhomogeneous fluid, a local average density model (LADM) of transport coefficients has been proposed ( ) whereby the local value of the transport coefficient, X(r), Is approximated by... [Pg.261]
