The term of copyright is also different from patent. For works created after January 1,1978, the term for a single author is the life of the author plus 70 years for joint authors, it is 70 years after the last surviving author s death. For works made for hire where the employer holds the copyright, the term will be 95 years from first publication or 120 years from the year of creation.
