Cooling towers make-up water

A system to add chemicals to cooling tower make-up water is needed. Currently, the process operator adds the chemicals intermittently by starting a positive displacement pump which delivers the chemicals to the make-up water. The exact application of the microprocessor control system would be to monitor the cooling tower make-up water rate and add a precise amount of chemical proportional to the make-up water rate. 

Canal. The water in the canal may become contaminated with minute radioactive particles from the fuel and beryllium assemblies that are handled and stored in the.canal, and possibly from fission products in the event of a fuel assembly rupture When this water is not contaminated it is pumped to the cooling tower make up water. If the water becomes contaminated it is directed to either the sewer or the retention basin, depending on the amdunt of activity. These measurements are also made with the annular type ionization chamber.
