Continuous creation

The legal protection of inventions by means of patents is a necessity in order to be able to exert the monopolistic power mentioned above and to provide incentives for its continual creation. [Pg.22]

Usually, experiments are performed with steady-state photolysis or radiolysis of the solution and the yield of scavenger products determined optically or by ESR methods. There is no direct interest in the actual time evolution of the density or recombination (survival) probability. Consequently, the creation of ion-pairs may be pictured as occurring at a constant rate, say 1 s 1, from time t0 = 0 to infinity. The steady-state ion-pair density distribution, which arises when dp/dt = 0, is the balance between continuous creation of ion pairs at a rate Is-1, recombination and scavenging. Removing the instantaneous creation of an ion-pair at time t = t0 (i.e. removing the 6(f — f0) in the source term), means that ion-pairs were continuously formed from time t = — 00 to t. At long times, f > — oo the density distribution is independent of t and, of course, t0. Let pss(r cs r0) = /i p(r, t cs t0, 0)d 0 be the steady-state ion-pair density distribution for ion pairs continuously formed at r0, and note d/dt J" f pd 0 = 0. The diffusion equation (169) becomes... [Pg.171]

A continuous creation and destruction of growing chains probably leading to their stationary concentration in the course of polymerisation. [Pg.26]

The Elements begin their generation by putrefaction. They are resolved into a humid nature or First Matter then chaos is made, and from this chaos generation. Thus rightly do Physicists say that preservation is a continual creation since the generation of each individual corresponds to the creation and preservation of the Macrocosm. Nature is always consistent she has only one right way, from which she departs only because of insurmountable obstacles, then she makes monsters. [Pg.49]

Comparison with modern abundance data shows that an exponential function is not such a disastrously wrong predictor of abundances as to discount all equilibrium models, particularly if nuclear synthesis is driven by neither a great event nor continuous creation. A clear resemblance between abundances in the 4n, 4n - - 2 and 4n 1 series points to an equilibrium model. [Pg.171]

Laplace Pierre Simon (1749-1827) Fr. math., laid foundation of thermochemistry, theory of probability, made much use of potential partial differential equations since named after him, conducted experiments of specific heat and heat of combustion, developed ice calorimeter LaViolette Paul A. (1938 —) US. astrophys., developer of unusual subquantum kinetics and continuous creation model of the universe, and novel approach to microphysics that accounts for forces in a unified maimer Lavoisier Antoine Laurent (1743—1794) Fr. chem., discovered relation between combustion and oxygen, divided substances into elements and compounds, explained respiration, disproved phlogiston, introduced quantitative methods to chemistry... [Pg.462]

There does seem to be some merit in the idea that engineers represent those who live by their hands and that financiers, politicians and social commentators live by their mouths. There is also sense in the idea that as nations and groups become wealthier, success breeds a tendency among their members to query the distribution of wealth along with complacency about its continued creation. [Pg.86]
