Pressly Associates, Inc., an environmental consulting firm in Brookhaven, New York, researched treatment options (including PF) for a dry cleaner site contaminated with tetra-chloroethene (PCE). As with all participants in the Internet, only a few players remained standing after the market corrected itself in 2000 and 2001. The online bond market at one point was dotted with Internet companies claiming to revolutionize the way bonds are issued, distributed, sold, and cleared to institutions and individuals each claim, of course, was more mighty than the previous one. A research report dated November 2000 conducted by technology consulting firm Scient counts 67 online bond providers. Most have closed up shop, merged with other firms, or "moved back home" (they were absorbed back by their parent companies that initially financed them). 

Some 121 firms completed the survey forms, for a sample response rate of 53 percent.
