Considerations for intact dosage form analysis

Numerous styles and brands of instruments and sample cells have been used for the analysis of tablets. The authors currently use several brands [Pg.86]

The first analyses of individual intact tablets and capsules involved the use of reflective aluminum sample cells, designed specifically for tablets or capsules, allowing illumination of all surfaces and probably collecting transmitted signal. Illumination of all surfaces enhances sensitivity. [Pg.87]

Curved surfaces, embossing, and scoring affect the spectrum of a tablet as positioning is varied, but the effect of such factors can be reduced by the methods just discussed. Natural variations in tablet mass and hardness also affect a tablet s spectrum through baseline shifting. [Pg.87]

Tremendous advances have been made recently in the use of near-infrared spectroscopy for the analysis of pharmaceutical dosage forms. Just 25 years ago, near-infrared spectroscopy was used in a way that offered relatively few advantages over other analytical methods for the analysis of dosage [Pg.87]

Pharmaceutical and medical applications of near-infrared spectroscopy [Pg.88]
