Conjugation influence alkynes

Even larger, conjugated systems were synthesized by employing both difunctional isocyanides and difunctional alkynes. In all the cases, the components have structural rigidity, which lends rigid-rod character to the complexes prepared from them. Many of the complexes are associated via intermolecular aurophilic contacts, which appear to have a distinct influence on the photophysical behavior, but are as yet not a necessary condition for luminescence (Scheme 51).196... 

Rogers and coworkers did not anticipate conjugative or steric influence on a linear diyne with distant triple bonds and thus one-half of Skinner s value should be equal to the experimental data for 1-octyne. The 2-alkynes for the same groups of compounds have heats of hydrogenation which are 273.81 kJ mol k The bulk of the difference, 16.73 kJ mol", is clearly due to a substituent effect, replacement of a hydrogen by an alkyl. 

We studied the three electrodes using the DFT coupled with the NEGF scheme. To compare different electrode materials, we used a simple conjugated molecule, l,3,5-hexatriyne(which we will call alkyne for convenience s sake). Transmission calculations were made to extract influences solely from electrodes by modification of a molecular core and linkers. The band structure and surface density of states (SDOS) of each electrode material were compared to the transmission function of each system under a zero bias.
