The absolute determination of the presence of a- or 3-linkages can be made by C-NMR because the carbons of each anomeric form give specific chemical signals [18]. The determination can sometimes also be made by using enzymes that are specific for the a- or p -linkages, if they are available and their specificity is known. [Pg.352]
