Concluding Remarks Attempt to Rationalise the Results on CO Oxidation

Concluding Remarks Attempt to Rationalise the Results on CO Oxidation [Pg.497]

In spite of the diversity of published results, one can attempt to summarise what seems to be known about the CO oxidation reaction, but it must be kept in mind that there are always papers showing opposite results and interpretations  [Pg.497]

It is the combination of gold particles and oxide support, which leads to active catalysts provided that the gold particles are smaller than 5nm (Section 15.3.3). [Pg.497]

The presence of metalHc gold is a requirement for the reaction to occur but it is possible that cationic gold species also plays a role in the reaction (Section 15.5.3). [Pg.497]

The catalytic activity increases as the gold particle size decreases down to 1-2 nm, which is the size Hmit in real catalysts. The decrease in size leads to changes in the properties of the particles, (Section 15.4.1) number of low coordinated surface sites, electronic and structure [Pg.497]
