Comsteep liquor

Achieving optimal concentrations is difficult because components in the medium and the biomass itself may neutralise the inhibitory effects of these reagents. This is especially true if complex, non-defined media, such as comsteep liquor, are used. [Pg.305]

Dried algae meal—A dried mixture of algae cells (genus Spongiococcum, separated from its culture broth), molasses, comsteep liquor, and a maximum of 0.3% ethoxyquin. The algae cells are produced by suitable fermentation, under controlled conditions, from a pure culture of the genus Spongiococcum. [Pg.542]

This substance is produced by an unknown Cephalosporium sp. from off the coast of Sardinia, cultured in a medium containing glucose and comsteep liquor (Crawford et al., 1952). The antibiotic can be extracted with butyl acetate from the acidified solution and purified by a procedure involving countercurrent distribution and chromatography (Burton and Abraham, 1951). [Pg.146]
