Xa decreases linearly with increasing Se/Sm ratio, Benacerraf, Guittard [3], 

The temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity x was measured from 100 to 500 K. All compositions are n-type semiconducting, with the sam.e energy gap AE = 0.16eV. The results are interpreted within the framework of Methfessel s model, taking into account Sm and Sm ion contributions [1]. 

SmSei+ films are orange and transparent in the region where SmSe has prominent absorption bands (at 1.03 and 1.85 eV) but show strong absorption above 2.5 eV [2].
