Components for High-Temperature Batteries

The electrolyte -alumina has already been described in Chapter III, Sec. 9. This section relates to additional information on the manufacture of yff -alumina and its application and behavior in high-temperature batteries (ZEBRA and Na /S). [Pg.576]

The P -alumina structures are remarkable not only for their ionic conductivities but also for the versatility in isomorphous replacement. There is little of the structure of (Na2S), 1 lAljOj which cannot be substituted, at least in part, by an alternative ion. MgO and LijO are preferred additives to -alumina in order to obtain good ionic conduction with no electronic contribution. [Pg.577]

Reliable thermodynamic and phase diagram data are only available for undoped [Pg.577]

The electrolyte S -alumina has already been described in Part III, Chapter 19. [Pg.735]
