Memory characteristics include soft ferroelectric behavior. Compositions exhibiting low coercive forces, less than 1 MV/m, near the morphotropic phase boundary are typical, such as Pb(Zro 65Tio 35)03 doped with less than 8 percent La. Typically a large field is applied to achieve a large remnant polarization. Intermediate polarization states can be obtained by applying voltages.
