The authors suggested that, in contrast to earlier reports, these results provided some reassurance that clozapine does not increase the risk of diabetes. However, cases of diabetes were identified by the new use of antidiabetic drugs, and it is therefore possible that clozapine was associated with less pronounced glucose intolerance that did not require drug therapy.
