Clomipramine cataplexy

The most effective treatment for cataplexy is the tricyclic antidepressants, fluoxetine, or venlafaxine. Imipramine, protriptyline, clomipramine, fluoxetine, and nortriptyline are effective in about 80% of patients. [Pg.835]

Because tricyclic antidepressants suppress REM sleep, they have been used in the management of narcolepsy and cataplexy when amphetamines fail or abuse potential is high. Clomipramine is the most effective, possibly because it has more pronounced actions on serotonergic mechanisms (61). [Pg.11]

Cataplexy is most effectively treated with 5HT uptake-blocking drugs such as clomipramine or fluoxetine, or some other antidepressant drugs, e.g. reboxetine. [Pg.405]
