In general, approaches to classroom assessment have been described in recent literature as assessment q/ learning, assessment for learning, and assessment as learning (Hume Coll, 2009 Earl, 2003). The latter two approaches shift the focus from a summative to a formative assessment practice and can be expected to play a key role in promoting chemistry learning within a democratic focus.
