Classification of elastic compression bandages

Because of their respective long histories and tradition, the German-speaking countries adopted different standards to those used in England. The German standard (RAL-GZ 387) classifies bandaging materials into the following types. 

Material for protection, absorption, and fixation (orthopedic wool, light cohesive bandages, 

Nonelastic bandages (rigid zinc oxide bandages). 

The English standard (BS 7505 1995) divides bandages into three types.
