Classical statistical mechanics of dense gases and liquids

The Classical Statistical Mechanics of Dense Gases and Liquids... [Pg.1147]

Although the classical statistical mechanics of dilute gases provides no advantage over quantum statistical mechanics, its application to liquids and dense gases is more productive than the application of quantum statistical mechanics to these systems. Unfortunately, a full discussion of this application is beyond the scope of this book, and we present only a few basic facts and formulas. [Pg.1147]

A great deal of research has been carried out on the classical statistical mechanics of liquids and dense gases, both for equilibrium and for nonequilibrium states. The interested reader is invited to consult some of the statistical mechanics textbooks listed at the end of this book, as well as such journals as the Journal of Chemical Physics, the Physical Review, and the Journal of Physical Chemistry. [Pg.1150]
